ARK Istanbul Ship Chandlery is one of Turkey’s leading companies in the fields of cruise and in maritime affairs. Isac Karen, who is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of this company that achieved many successes in its field, stated that they thought the Turkish maritime sector should be far ahead compared to its current status. Karen stated that the state had to undertake promotions and conveniences in many matters and said: “The state should promote vessel construction and companies should not wait in queues for such constructions”.  

 The latest news included in the print and visual media is the ship chandlery agreement signed between ARK Istanbul and Lucos Marin, which is one of the leading Russian maritime companies, covering 260 vessels.

Karen stated that “The chandlery sector, which provides food, cleaning material and technical assistance to the vessels circulating in the Turkish territorial waters, has an exportation potential of 500 million dollars.  Isac Karen, who is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the leading institutions such as ARK Istanbul and ARK Europe, has indicated in his statement that the chandlery business, which develops in line with the development of the maritime sector, has become a sector in the recent periods. Karen has further indicated that there existed approximately 200 thousand vessels that entered the Turkish territorial waters and passed the straits each year, that these had large requirements and that the Turkish entrepreneurs have professionalized in meeting such requirements without any support from the Government.   Karen indicated that as ARK Europe Group, they have erected normal and cool storage houses in the Tuzla Free Zone on a closed are of 2.500 sqm so as to solve the problems faced by the chandlery companies as far as the supply business is concerned. He further added that they imported many products via this manner.
